Free theme - Rambling about an otome game
To be honest, when a free theme appears I need to have a little time before putting my thoughts on paper (or, in this case, write something that could at least be interesting for you).
And I had two ideas, I could talk about music and a new band I found out about the weekend, or I could talk about a game that I've been playing for three months by now.
I Decided to do the second one, Because is kind of an unknown topic and I've only seen a very few people playing the game(but if you're interested in the music band I found out the weekend, it's "Kodaline" and The video that captured me was "All I have part 2").
So, getting back to the subject, the game is an "otome" platform for cell phones. For those who are not familiar with the term, an "otome" is a dating game developed mostly by Japanese companies.
Mystic Messenger starts with the fact that you go to a hypothetical apartment that contains classified information, with the excuse to contact the owner of a cellphone. When you enter the "apartment", you also enter a chatroom in the app where the main characters interact. Then you start chatting with them, different themed chatrooms will lead you to a character's route and different endings. Each character has 3 bad endings, a normal ending AND a good ending, that leads you to have special photographs of your favorite character and stuff (and, of course, a relationship, with a fictional character).
Why did I want to talk about a "silly" topic like this "? Because the game was developed by a korean company, Cheritz, and the game is avaible in just two languages, korean and english; so it's a good opportunity to practice the understanding of the grammar of the language and learn new colloquial ways to chat with other people. Also, next week they are going to open a new route of an adorable and loving character and that got me a bit hyped up haha.
But, aside that introduction, what amazed me the most of the game was the interaction with us, the player, thought the game. The characters call you after certain chatrooms, send you texts to get your attention and (depending on the answer you gave them) this will lead you to any of the possible endings. You get to know more of all the characters while playing all the routes, and I have to say that route of 10-11 days, with 5 main characters, is not enough to get to know the complex background in each one of them.
I have to warn you that it consumes a lot of daily time to participate in MOST of the chatrooms (10-15 min each chatroom chatrooms and 10.11 each day ...) and you May even suffer of sleep deprivation in order to Participate in all Chatrooms (it's not that I did that ... Not at all ... hahahahaha ...)
Enjoy and I let you see some examples of the dynamics in the game!
